Ben was insufferable

Main Post:

This might post might be really harsh but I really don't know why everyone loved him so much.

I know this is going to be unpopular because all over I see Ben love and I just don't get it. he was insufferable. he thought he was better than everyone, he regularly used people throughout the show, he was awful to his girlfriends. he did nice things on occasion but to me it just wasn't enough to make up for the rest of him.

he was smart and driven and I can respect that. but he was by far, one of my least favorite characters.

and please don't bring up "well what about Devi, she wasn't any better' because thats an entirely different conversation. (btw I don't find her insufferable it's just Devi is a different conversation from Ben)

Top Comment: i don't hate ben as much as everyone i think and didn't think he was completely insufferable, i thought the last episode was kinda cute. but for me, he just had virtually no growth throughout the show. i was the biggest team ben fan from season one, but paxton really is just by far the superior character and better person, and i really think he and devi bring out the best in eachother and so i really couldn't root for ben & devi anymore. they virtually had no moments this season where i really saw why they should be together whereas paxton and devi in almost every convo, you can see how they push eachother to be their most authentic, honest selves and to do better. i don't think given where they're at in her lives her and paxton would have made sense, but having her end up with ben felt sorta ehhh when he's basically been a dick almost the whole show.

Unpopular opinion on Ben

Main Post:

EDIT please now refer to this post as "POPULAR opinion on Ben"

Firstly, I don't truly believe that he doesn't remember what happened with TikTok girl. Seems too convenient. He remembers so many other details and was so quick to shoot down/discredit her.

ALSO... and I thought this in the pods... he seems way too agreeable. I feel like he always says whatever it is that he thinks Sara wants to hear and then she eats it right up. I'm not done watching yet, but I just can't imagine them lasting very long. She seems to have way more depth, intention and conviction than him in every area.

Top Comment: This mf must have some serious amnesia because he also can’t remember whether his beloved church is pro lgbt or not

Is Ben actually good??

Main Post:

I feel like Ben is outshined all the time by almost every character. I truly wish he was better bc he is one of my favorite characters. (Please correct me if im wrong about him)

Top Comment: No, he is not good relative to other characters. However, any character is capable of taking on end game stuff if invested into. There are DPS Ben Bigger mains getting sub 1-min times on Shinyu 7. So even the "bad" characters are perfectly fine, and if you have fun playing Ben, then play Ben! As time goes on, he is likely to be more and more left in the dust, however.

The original Ben 10 genuinely has one of the best and intriguing premises for a show

Main Post:

Hear me out.

Let's say I'm an executive at Cartoon Network. You need a new show. Some guy walks into your meeting to suggest an idea.

"Ok, I have an idea for a show."

Let's hear him out.

"Ok, so basically, there's this ten year old boy named Ben."

Ok, this can make him relatable to our demographic, go on.

"He's on a camping trip in the Summer with his Grandpa and cousin, Gwen."

Ok, this is good; the mentor role and the straight face can work in dynamic with Ben, while also providing a wide range of locations to go to since it's a camping trip. Problem is, how do we make this interesting?

"And he gets a watch called the Omnitrix that came from outer space which has ten aliens Ben can choose."

Ok, this is interesting! Not only can it work for merchandise, but every episode will be different as each alien can be suited for a specific situation. Let's take a rollercoaster going off the rails. This show's premise allows for ten different ways this can be solved; Four Arms can hold it so it doesn't go off the tracks, XLR8 can get everyone out of the carriages quickly, so on, so forth. Obviously, some aliens won't be suited for this, so that presents the problem; how does it make the show interesting if Ben will know what alien will be perfect for a certain situation?

"Sometimes, the Omnitrix goes haywire and chooses a random alien instead of the one Ben wanted."

Holy shit, this is amazing! Now Ben will have to overcome certain situations with an alien that's not suited for that situation, which will present interesting circumstances in how he solves certain problems!

"And the main overarching villain is a guy called Vilgax who wants to rob the Omnitrix in order to create an army to rule the galaxy"

This is so wacky and I love it, greenlight the show!

Top Comment: OG Ben 10 was my shit as a kid. I could not stop watching it. Alien Force and onward might not have had the same consistent quality(that’s not a knock against them, but we can all agree that it wasn’t always the best ride), but you can’t tell me that Ben 10 wasn’t the baddest series around when you were young. There are a lot of great cartoons that match up to it, but I struggle to name any who were as creative or cool to watch.

Thoughts on Ben? Where does he go from here?

Main Post:

I was honestly just wondering the subreddit's thoughts on Ben after tonight. Like where does he go from here if none of the Casa girls want him? And does anyone think he isn't trying because he likes Shakira (imo he seems quite focused on here in a love hate way) or does he like no one and just here for clout? I would love to hear thoughts on him or theories because not sure what to make of him right now other than he is extremely odd.

Top Comment: Where does he go? Home. He goes home.
